A new report from education expert Professor Jim Scott has highlighted extensive SNP failings within Scotland’s education system.

Professor Scott’s report into the Scottish Government’s implementation of Curriculum for Excellence raises huge questions over educational attainment and the future of Scotland’s young people.

The report shows a substantial drop in overall attainment, as well as a sharp rise in levels of zero attainment.

The report states that the SNP government has avoided major inspection of its Curriculum for Excellence and has dodged public analysis of the full set of attainment data.

Jackie Baillie said:

“This report lays out in black and white the extent to which Nicola Sturgeon has failed Scotland’s children.

“Attainment levels under the SNP have been abysmal and we are at a serious risk of lacking scientists, teachers, doctors and nurses in the future.

“This SNP’s blinkered approach to the failings of Curriculum for Excellence means that there is little chance of improvement or change.

“Any statement from Nicola Sturgeon that says education is her top priority isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Her only aim of Government is to make Scotland an independent country and Scotland’s young people are suffering badly as a result.”
