Local MSP Jackie Baillie opened the second annual West Dunbartonshire Jobs and Careers Fair this week in Dumbarton.
Having taken place for the first time in Clydebank in 2017, this year’s fair was held in the Army Reserves Hall on Latta Street in Dumbarton. Over 30 local employers including Babcocks, First Bus, Golden Jubilee and Network Rail attended the event to showcase job opportunities and offer advice to jobseekers in Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven.
The Jobs Fair was organised by staff at Dumbarton Jobcentre who brought together a diverse range of employers from the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Jackie said:
“I was delighted to open the West Dunbartonshire Jobs Fair and see so many local employers with new opportunities for people in Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven. Taking the first step is often the hardest thing to do when looking for a new job so events like these are important to give people a chance to meet employers informally.
“West Dunbartonshire has faced a number of challenges over the years but the future is bright thanks to investment from companies like Chivas, the expansion of Faslane and regeneration plans in Dumbarton, Bowling, Balloch and Alexandria
