Jackie Baillie has labelled the delay in people receiving the new Adult Disability Payment as shameful.
A BBC Scotland report earlier this week highlighted the significant hold-ups between application and the benefit being paid.
The Scottish Government took on responsibility for the Adult Disability Payment last year as it replaced the likes of Personal Independence Payments and the Disability Living Allowance.
Jackie Baillie said: “People are suffering as a result of these shameful delays, including some of my constituents from Dumbarton, Balloch, the Vale of Leven, Helensburgh and Lomond.
“The Scottish Government promised to deliver a fairer, more compassionate system in Scotland when it assumed responsibility for these benefits, but instead the waits are even worse than they are under the DWP.
“This a complete betrayal of disabled Scots. Unfortunately the Cabinet Secretary is more interested in downplaying the chaos when she should be apologising to the people who are being failed on her watch.
“The SNP must act now to fix these delays and deliver the working social security system we need.”
