Jackie Baillie is holding a cost of living advice event to help residents in Bonhill access help amid rising bills.

The Dumbarton constituency MSP hosted two similar events recently in Alexandria and Dumbarton which were well attended by members of the community.

She will hold an advice surgery and will also be joined by West Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau and teams from West Dunbartonshire Council who will be able to offer advice on benefits and support.

The advice event will coincide with one of Bonhill and Dalmonach Community Council’s Winter Warmer events which have been taking place in order to offer members of the community a warm and safe place to go during the colder months.

Jackie Baillie said: “I was delighted to be asked along to host a cost of living advice surgery during the Winter Warmer Events being held by Bonhill and Dalmonach Community Council. I want to thank the community council both for the kind invitation and also for their work in looking out for members of the community, providing them with a warm and safe place to gather this winter.

“It is imperative that people know where they can turn during a cost of living crisis. No-one should feel as if they have been abandoned and cannot pay their bills. There is support available and the focus of this special event is on giving people the chance to find out how they can be assisted.

“Anyone in the community is welcome to come along and get advice from the council’s welfare fund team and Working 4U department who can advise on benefits among other resources. Citizens Advice Bureau will also be able to provide useful information and tips on how to keep costs down and maximise the support available.”

Chair of Bonhill and Dalmonach Community Council, Jack Fordy, said: “I want to thank members of the community who have already come out for our Winter Warmer events.

“Bonhill and Dalmonach Community Council are working hard to try and help our residents and I am delighted that Jackie Baillie MSP will be in attendance on December 7 along with agencies who can help give support and advice to local people to help them through the cost of living crisis.”
