Jackie Baillie welcomed Monsignor John Hughes to the Scottish Parliament this week to deliver Time for Reflection.

Time for Reflection is an important part of the working week for MSPs and gives them the opportunity to quietly consider their work in representing the people of Scotland.

Dumbarton constituency MSP Jackie Baillie nominated the parish priest from St Joseph’s in Helensburgh to deliver the Time for Reflection.

The Former Rector of the Pontifical Scots College Rome was invited to speak to Members at the start of parliamentary business on Tuesday, November 22nd.

Jackie Baillie, Dumbarton constituency MSP, said: “I was privileged to be in the Chamber on Tuesday to listen to the excellent contribution from Monsignor Hughes.

“In his address, he spoke about harmony and being in tune with our people and I think this was an important message to all members.

“His comments certainly will have struck a chord with colleagues across the Chamber.

“I want to thank the Monsignor for making the journey from Helensburgh to Edinburgh to deliver this message and for the insight into his varied career within the Catholic Church including the good work which his parish continues to do in supporting people within the Helensburgh community.”
