A&E CRISIS
A&E CRISIS

Jackie Baillie warns that A&E is still in crisis as it faces yet another week of dismal figures where just half of those attending at the emergency department at the RAH were seen within four hours.

In the week ending 13 November 2022, the Paisley hospital recorded its third worst ever figures against the Scottish Government’s own four-hour standard with only 51.2 percent of patients being seen within that timeframe.

Only three hospitals across Scotland recorded worse figures that week.

Across Scotland, an eye-watering 2,912 patients waited more than eight hours, and a shocking 1,036 were stuck at A&E for more than 12 hours.

Dumbarton constituency MSP Jackie Baillie said: These grim figures show that our A&E is still in crisis. I am alarmed by the fact that only half of people who attended at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, including people from Dumbarton, the Vale of Leven, Helensburgh and Lomond were seen within four hours at an emergency department.

“Our hardworking NHS staff and their patients are facing immensely challenging conditions, and there is little reassurance that things will improve as we head into winter.

“Our vital health services are being pushed to the point that they are now under real threat of privatisation on the SNP’s watch as they have continually failed to support the NHS or its staff.

“We must tackle this crisis urgently before the disastrous stewardship of Humza Yousaf puts any more lives at risk.”
