COST OF LIVING CRISIS

Jackie Baillie is hosting two special events in conjunction with West Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau in order to help support residents through the cost of living crisis.

The Dumbarton constituency MSP will bring together a range of support agencies over two dates in November. They will provide advice to members of the community on how to manage household funds and give information on the help which is available to those struggling.

The events will take place on Monday, November 7th in Alexandria and Friday, November 11th in Dumbarton where help will be on hand from the likes of West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare, Carers of West Dunbartonshire, Social Security Scotland, West Dunbartonshire Council’s employability service, welfare benefits, debt advice and community learning department among others.

The aim of the events is to make sure that people know where to turn if they are struggling to pay their bills and to pick up handy tips on how to manage household budgets.

Jackie Baillie said: “It is difficult to escape news about rising bills whether that be food or fuel. It is a really worrying time for everyone in our communities.

“Throughout this year, I have been contacted by a range of people worried about how they can afford their bills. From businesses to families and elderly people on a fixed income, the current cost of living crisis is affecting everyone.

“There is help available within our communities and I am grateful to the organisations who have already signed up to be a part of these events, to help people.

“I also want to thank West Dunbartonshire Citizens’ Advice Bureau who I am working in partnership with to put on these advice events and for their ongoing support to local residents.”

Joe McCormack, Chief Executive Officer of West Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau said: “West Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau are keen to ensure we can help as many people in our communities as possible.

“We would encourage people to attend this event in order to access assistance and advice. We will have our Safe and Warm project energy advisers present on the day who will be able to assist with bills, energy disputes and other sources of help which could be invaluable as we head into winter.”
