Jackie Baillie was hugely impressed by the enthusiasm of Lomond Radio directors and presenters when she visited the station’s studios recently.

The Dumbarton constituency MSP heard how the station, which serves the local area, but attracts listeners from across the globe, started up and is going from strength to strength.

She was welcomed into the studio during a live broadcast by presenter Nikki Lyle to see first-hand the high-tech equipment which is used and how the shows are broadcast across digital radio. Jackie also heard from directors Alan Caldwell and Phil Briscoe about how they, and fellow director Paul Lucas help train members of the community to become confident radio presenters.

Jackie Baillie said: “It was a joy to visit Lomond Radio and hear from Alan and Phil who are so enthusiastic about the station. They spoke about the efforts they have made to get the station up and running and how they are attracting listeners from all around the world which is a fantastic achievement.

“I was also really pleased to hear about their focus on nurturing local talent and training aspiring presenters up to help their future job prospects.

“It was great to be able to see the studio itself which has such modern and high-tech equipment. Well done to the directors for securing the funding for this community resource. I wish them well for the future.”
