Jackie Baillie has told how Bellsmyre is ‘coming back to life’ as she was shown round the area during a recent walkabout.
The Dumbarton constituency MSP joined representatives from Caledonia Housing Association and contractors CCG to view newly-developed homes at Muir Road and speak with tenants who are already settled into the properties.
She was also shown round the site at Whiteford Avenue which is due to be demolished, with new homes being built in their place.
Dumbarton constituency MSP Jackie Baillie said: “Bellsmyre is really coming back to life again as a result of the investment and regeneration of the area by Caledonian Housing Association.
“It was a joy to walk round the area last week and see the fantastic work which has been going on. I was delighted to see around some of the properties which are finished to a high standard and speak to tenants who are understandably thrilled with their new homes. It has not been an easy task to get to this point but it appears that the hard work is paying off.
“I want to thank Caledonian Housing Association for inviting me along and I know that further steps to improve the area are already in hand and will be taken forward in close communication with the tenants and residents of Bellsmyre.”
Andrew Kilpatrick, Director of Assets at Caledonia, said “It was great to be able to show Jackie Baillie around our new homes, which form the first phase of our regeneration of the Bellsmyre area, and we’re looking forward to working with West Dunbartonshire Council and the local community to deliver the remainder of the regeneration over the coming years.”
