Jackie Baillie has encouraged young people to reach out for exam support following the first full exam diet since 2019.
Results are due to be released on Tuesday, August 9th with a special helpline set up by Skills Development Scotland to help support people receiving their results.
The Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Results Helpline will open at 8am on Tuesday, August 9th and is available to young people as well as parents and carers looking to support young people through their future choices.
If you cannot use a telephone and need a different way to contact SDS, you can also send them a direct message on Facebook.
SDS’s expert advisers will have access to information on course vacancies at UK colleges and universities, Confirmation and Clearing, advice about Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships and jobs, volunteering or staying on at school.
The Dumbarton constituency MSP said: “This year will have been a difficult one for many young people facing the first proper exam diet in their school careers.
“I am sure many young people across West Dunbartonshire, Helensburgh and Lomond, will be anxious and excited to receive their exam results as they look to their next steps within education or as they head into the world of work and I want to wish them well for their future.
“Whatever the outcome, there is always support available. Even if your grades weren’t as good as you expected, there are still opportunities and the talented, compassionate and dedicated people who work on the Skills Development Scotland helpline will be able to talk you through those.
“Parents and carers can also call the helpline in order to support young people through their choices which will be a valuable tool for many.”
The helpline number for students, parents and carers is 0808 100 8000. It will be open between 8am and 8pm on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th of August, 9am until 5pm on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th of August and Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th of August.
