Jackie Baillie MSP has urged eligible constituents to register with Rightdose Pharmacy’s new pouch service in order to make it easier for them to manage multiple prescriptions.

The scheme is available to those registered with four GP practices within Dumbarton Health Centre.

Rightdose acts as a medication compliance aid, typically for people on four or more types of drugs and for those with chronic conditions, that must be strictly managed. By sorting medications into individual daily pouches, this service ensures that patients can be confident in correctly taking their allocated dosages.

Clinical research has demonstrated that up to half of people do not take their medications with total accuracy or as directed by their doctors. The scheme has been introduced following long waits for dosette boxes as well as the withdrawal of the specialist blister packs from some High Street pharmacies.

This service from Rightdose is free of charge and is delivered by couriers to patients’ homes.

Dumbarton constituency MSP, Jackie Baillie said: “I encourage those who are eligible to apply for this service. It is extremely important for those on multiple medications, often with complex care needs, to ensure they are managing their doses properly.

“A service like this can be a lifeline to people who want to live independently or who have little day-to-day support from family or carers to aid their wellbeing.

“This programme will ultimately create better health outcomes and make patients’ medical experiences more straightforward which is to be welcomed.”

There are currently four GPs located in Dumbarton Health Centre that are participating in this programme: The Riverbank Practice (01389 811 862), Levenside Medical Practice (01389 811 844), Dr K.N. Lynn & Dr J.M. Mcdevitt (01389 811 855) and Dr Stephen H. Dunn & Partners (01389 811 833). To register, patients simply get in contact with their practitioners and arrange for their repeat prescriptions to be administered by Rightdose.
