Jackie Baillie welcomed MSPs along to a Love Your Liver roadshow at Holyrood this week in a bid to raise awareness of good liver health.

The British Liver Trust brought their special liver scanner along to the Scottish Parliament with many MSPs getting a scan, including the Dumbarton constituency MSP herself.

The charity are keen to highlight the inequalities in liver health as their data shows that mortality rates for the disease is four times higher in deprived areas, like West Dunbartonshire.

Jackie Baillie said: “It was a pleasure to host the Love Your Liver roadshow and it is important that we all have a role in looking after ourselves and speaking up if something is not right.

“As with many types of serious illness, early detection is key and more deprived communities, like West Dunbartonshire are among the worst affected.

“It is imperative that the SNP Government invests in programmes to make sure the outlook for people in more deprived communities is the same as more affluent areas. We must do all that we can to stop the deep-rooted health inequality gap in our communities from widening any further.”
