Jackie Baillie says she is pleased after Scottish Enterprise agreed to remove unauthorised sold stickers at the site which Flamingo Land plans to develop on.

Following an enquiry from the Dumbarton constituency MSP, the public body confirmed that the stickers placed on the “development opportunity” sign at the West Riverside site in Balloch which show “Flamingo Land” and “Sold” were not officially placed there.

And Scottish Enterprise Chief Executive Adrian Gillespie confirmed these would be removed as the land hasn’t yet been sold to the company however the parties have agreed a conditional missive.

This transaction will be finalised when Scottish Enterprise sell the land to the Yorkshire-based firm once the planning process is complete.

Lomond Banks are expected to submit their planning application to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park imminently.

Jackie Baillie MSP said: “I am pleased that the Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise, Adrian Gillespie has agreed that these stickers will be removed as they are misrepresenting the current situation.

“The proposed development of Flamingo Land is a sensitive issue locally and attracted a high number of objectors when the initial plans were lodged in 2019. I opposed the plans at the time and I am keen to see what changes have been made as any development must be the best possible one for the people who stay, work and trade in the Balloch area and beyond.”
