Jackie Baillie MSP has welcomed more than £10,000 of funding for two local groups recognised for their work to tackle climate change.

Both Our Lady and St Patrick’s High and the Rock Community Church have been handed grants through the National Lottery’s Together for Our Planet Fund.

The Rock Community Church in Dumbarton was granted £9990 to deliver outreach sessions with the local community around climate change and raise awareness of the positive impacts of individual and local action. They will also be able to make a number of energy efficient improvements to the Phoenix Centre thanks to the cash award.

Meanwhile OLSP was given £1300 to raise awareness of climate change and COP26 amongst pupils, their families and the wider local community through activities and speakers. A pupil-run community-wide eco group will also be established to promote the positive impact of local individual action on wider climate change. The project will benefit the wider Dumbarton area, with a specific focus on young people.

Jackie Baillie, Dumbarton constituency MSP said: “I am absolutely delighted that two very worthwhile causes within Dumbarton have been recognised for their own work on climate change.

“The Rock Community Church is a fantastic community resource leading the way in raising awareness of how local people can do their bit to tackle climate change.

“And Our Lady and St Patrick’s High is helping guide the future generation to place climate issues at the heart of everything they do.

“Well done to both groups for your hard work in tackling this extremely important issue.”
