Commenting on statistics published today which show that there has been a rise of 269% in the number of positive cases in care homes, with a rise of 78.4% among staff, within only a fortnight, Scottish Labour health spokesperson Jackie Baillie said:  

“This is an incredibly worrying spike in the number of Covid cases among some of the most vulnerable people in our community and across Scotland. 

“We cannot repeat the mistakes of the earlier phase of the pandemic.  

“Time and time again, the SNP government has failed to keep our care home residents safe.  

“And by losing control of the pandemic at large, the SNP have allowed our care home residents to be put in danger once more.

“Action must be taken now to protect the lives of our care home residents and those who care for them.”
