Jackie Baillie MSP has urged Post Office Ltd to use maximum flexibility to ensure that a post office service can continue in Tarbet and Arrochar. The MSP met with Mark Gibson from the Post Office to discuss the closure of the branches in both villages.
Tarbet Post Office closed in July and Arrochar Post Office is expected to close in October meaning residents will have to travel to Helensburgh to access a Post Office.
Interest has been expressed by two local people so far and Jackie is hopeful that one of them will take over the local service.
“I am continuing to work with the Post Office to ensure that they understand the value of local services for my constituents, especially those in rural communities.
“The communities of Tarbet and Arrochar value a local service and it is clear from the emails and phone calls received by my office that the closure of both of these sites would have an immeasurable impact on the people living in these areas.
“I hope that the Post Office will use every flexibility available to them to ensure that provision is continued.”
